2011 Buzzer Beaters Contest: RESULTS

After more than a month of voting, an overall winner by majority vote has been determined in the 2011 Buzzer Beaters Contest. Before we announce the winner, we'd like to acknowledge several nuances about this particular contest that are of note:

(1) The twelve clips presented to fans garned more than 11,200 views on the MHSAA YouTube channel -- which tells us that there are a great many of you still captivated by the spirit, emotion and excitement of true "buzzer beater" moments.

(2) Many of you utilized Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about your favorite clips -- we're glad to be a part of that conversation. Follow us or "Like" us today!

(3) The voting (especially in the late rounds) got a little... funky. That said, we're more convinced than ever that our two Finalists, the 1994 Grandville Calvin Christian clip and the 1996 Portland St. Patrick clip, are both deserving of time at our Finals this month. Those of you attending our Girls Basketball Finals (March 19) and/or our Boys Basketball Finals (March 26) can watch and cheer for these clips from the seats of the Breslin Student Events Center, as both will receive credit for their popularity among our fans.

To celebrate the start of March Magic (and our first full year on Facebook and Twitter!), we're hoping to engage our fans in a new, exciting way. This month, you'll vote for your favorite Buzzer Beaters -- choosing from a selection hand-picked by our staff to represent the best-of-the-best over the years in both Boys and Girls basketball.

The eventual winning clip will be shown at both Boys & Girls Basketball Finals at the Breslin Center in March.
