Officials Liability Coverage

This is not a contract of insurance. It is a summary of coverage. For a complete description of the coverage, limits, terms and conditions, please see the Insurance Policy at the MHSAA office.

Coverage underwritten by Great American Assurance.

WHO IS COVERED
Registered MHSAA officials, while officiating a contest in which one or more teams or individuals represents a member school and MHSAA adopted rules are used as the game rules.

IN ADDITION
Registered MHSAA officials are covered while attending meetings designed specifically for sports officials for MHSAA sponsored sports.

EXAMPLE OF LIABILITY COVERAGE…
The plan will pay those sums that the Insured official becomes legally obligated to pay as damages because of:

• Bodily Injury and Property Damage
• Personal Injury and Advertising Injury
• Products and Completed Operations
• Contractual Liability
• Participants Legal Liability
• Host Liquor Liability, covering incidental consumption that involves the association
• Defense and Legal Expenses are covered in addition to the limits provided

COVERAGE PERIOD
An official is covered from the date of registration. However, no coverage will be provided before Aug. 1, 2004. All coverage ends on Aug. 1, 2005.

EXAMPLE OF LIABILITY COVERAGE LIMITS…
$1,000,000 General Liability coverage per occurrence.

"Occurrence" means any accident, including continuous or repeated exposure to the same general harmful condition.

$ 300,000 Fire Legal Liability
$ 5,000 Medical Expense Payment

You must refer to the policy for complete information on policy conditions, limits and exclusions.

CLAIMS REPORTING
Registered MHSAA officials should immediately report any occurrences that may result in a claim of liability to the agent. An incident report form is available from the agent of MHSAA.

Upon notice of a claim, current membership will be verified by MHSAA.
