The Michigan High School Athletic Association, in cooperation with the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers, will conduct a pre-season clinic for high school football public address announcers at the MHSAA Office on August 24.
The clinic will not only focus on football announcing specifics, but will also provide general tips for better announcing, and review emergency preparedness.
Cost for the clinic is $25 for adults, $15 for students and includes lunch. Participants are encouraged to purchase a copy of the NASPAA’s workbook – The Voice The Crowd – in advance of the clinic; or bring their book with them as it will be the basis for the football portion of the workshop.
The clinic begins at 9 a.m. on August 24, and will conclude by 2 p.m.
A free open mic session will take place at the MHSAA Office the evening before the clinic, August 23, where workshop registrants can perform mock game calls to be critiqued by Saturday’s clinicians. There is no cost to participate in this Open Mic Session, which will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Space is limited. If interested, email John Johnson at the MHSAA Office by August 15 – firstname.lastname@example.org.
