A total of 122 team champions were crowned in Michigan High School Athletic Association post-season tournaments during the 2008-09 school year. Of the 122 team champions in classes or divisions, there were four schools winning their first MHSAA titles in any sport:  Cheboygan in boys bowling; Linden in boys cross country; Harrison in boys skiing; and Hudson in wrestling.   In addition, there were 29 other teams which won tournament titles in a given sport for the first time.

On Saturday (May 30), the MHSAA Network will have its cameras at its Track & Field Finals sites in both peninsulas to produce highlights shows for the MHSAA.tv Website and for its cable television affiliate, Comcast Channel 900 that will be shown during the summer.

Several months of work acting on expressions of interest by member schools for a reduced-player format for football resulted in the approval of a plan for an eight-player playoff division by the Representative Council of the Michigan High School Athletic Association during its annual Spring Meeting, May 3-4, in Gaylord.

The recipients of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Good Sports Are Winners! Awards for the winter sports season have been selected, a group of  261 teams representing over 250 schools which are being honored for displaying outstanding sportsmanship during selected postseason tournament competitions to receive awards ranging from framed certificates to commemorative banners and crystal trophies from the MEEMIC Insurance Company, the Association's corporate partner in sportsmanship efforts.
