The 5-foot-11 guard drained a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from his team’s side of halfcourt to give Sexton a 73-71 win over Chelsea in their Division 2 Regional Final. He finished with 35 points total, and the Regional title was Sexton’s first since 2012. The J-Dubbs had watched a 16-point fourth-quarter lead turn into a one-point deficit with 2.2 seconds to play, setting up Summerville’s unforgettable shot.

He averaged 19.2 points and 3.6 assists per game this season and served as a team captain as Sexton finished 19-6 and second in the Capital Area Activities Conference White. The J-Dubbs’ season ended in Tuesday’s Quarterfinal with a loss to Romulus Summit Academy North.

November 28, 2025

Elizabeth Eichbrecht headshotElizabeth Eichbrecht♦ West Bloomfield
Senior ♦ Swimming

Eichbrecht finished her high school career last week by completing career Finals sweeps in the 200 and 500-yard freestyles at the Lower Peninsula Division 1 championship meet at Oakland University. She set all-Finals records in both races, swimming a 1:45.05 in her 200 prelim to break the 2007 record set by past Canton star and later Olympic medalist Allison Schmitt. Her 500 prelim time of 4:42.00 broke the 2017 record set by Grand Ledge's Lola Mull.

Eichbrecht went on to swim 1:45.98 in the 200 and 4:42.89 in her championship races to win them by more than 5 and 16 seconds, respectively. She had entered the meet with seed times of 1:45.48 and 4:41.54. She improved on her Finals times from a year ago by three seconds in the 200 and nearly 10 in the 500. Eichbrecht will continue at Indiana, which is coming off a record fourth-place finish at last season's NCAA championship meet.
