Performance of the Week: Troy's Olivia Jasniewicz
April 11, 2025
Olivia Jasniewicz ♦ Troy
Junior ♦ Soccer
Jasniewicz scored the go-ahead goal as Troy defeated reigning Division 1 champion Rochester Adams 2-1 on April 3, not only giving the Colts an early advantage in the Oakland Activities Association Red race, but also avenging Troy's overtime loss to Adams in last season's Regional Final. Jasniewicz sent home an Ava Fleming pass with 16:27 to play to put their team ahead for good.
A forward and midfielder, Jasniewicz made the Division 1 all-state first team last season as Troy finished 14-2-3 and won the OAA Red title. The Colts are 4-0-1 this season and No. 3 in Division 1 in this week's first rankings of the season, just ahead of Adams at No. 4. Jasniewicz moved to Troy from Canada a few years ago and played volleyball and basketball for Troy earlier this school year after growing up also competing in cross country, swimming and track.

Performance of the Week: Hudsonville's Brady Van Laecke
October 10, 2025
Brady Van Laecke ♦ Hudsonville
Senior ♦ Football
Hudsonville's quarterback produced one of most notable performances in the state during Week 6, completing 11 of 13 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns and running 17 times for 85 yards and two more scores as the Eagles held off rival Rockford 35-28 to improve to 6-0 and move into first place alone in the Ottawa-Kent Conference Red.
Van Laecke saw time during last season's Division 1 championship game loss to Detroit Cass Tech at Ford Field, throwing three passes, running five times and punting twice. He also is a sprinter on the track & field team and was part of Hudsonville's O-K Red championship 400 relay in the spring. His final scoring pass against Rockford, to teammate Lawsyn Weber, received national attention as Weber leapt over a defender and pulled down the pass in the back of the end zone.
