There wasn’t a lot of scoring, but the first day of the MHSAA Girls Soccer Finals at Old College Field produced a lot of excitement.

Division 1

Rochester Hills Stoney Creek 1, Canton 0 

Cougars Convert PK - The only goal of the Division 1 Final between Rochester Hills Stoney Creek and Canton came on this penalty kick with 10:56 left in the game by Stoney Creek's Emily Solek.

Division 4 

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 1, Montrose 0 (OT-Shootout)

Dangerous Corner Headed Away - In the second half, Montrose had an opportunity on a corner kick headed away by Teagan Cornell of Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett. 

Right On Rush - In overtime, Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett had a great scoring opportunity on a free kick by Kate Birgbauer, but Montrose keeper Alexis Rush was up to the task and stopped the shot.

4. BOYS BASKETBALL Levi Stambaugh became Mason’s all-time leading scorer during the Bulldogs’ 72-36 win over Parma Western – Lansing State Journal

5. GIRLS BASKETBALL Essexville Garber’s Audrey Ball reached 1,000 career points during a 59-32 win over Birch Run – Bay City Times

6. GIRLS BASKETBALL Utica Eisenhower downed Armada 62-37 in a matchup of teams with a combined three losses – Macomb Daily

7. HOCKEY Regional play began Monday – with Ann Arbor Pioneer, Novi and Grandville victorious – and the Oakland Press previewed 11 brackets including area teams – Oakland Press

8. GIRLS BASKETBALL Sault Ste. Marie defeated Alpena 69-57 – Alpena News

9. BOYS BASKETBALL Norway followed Bryce Adams to a 75-53 win over Bark River-Harris – Upper Michigan’s Source

10. BOYS BASKETBALL Saginaw Swan Valley downed Carrollton 72-53 – WNEM
