Saturday was a big day for Montague – in addition to winning its first Girls Golf Finals championship, the Wildcats made history on the volleyball court as well.

1. Volleyball: Division 2 No. 5 Montague downed Division 3 No. 4 North Muskegon and then No. 10 Western Michigan Christian to claim its first Greater Muskegon Athletic Association championship in this sport since 1997 – Local Sports Journal

2. Cross Country: Houghton swept Western Peninsula Athletic Conference championships; the girls and boys both are ranked No. 2 in UPD1 – Marquette Mining Journal

3. Cross Country: Traverse City St. Francis swept Lake Michigan Conference titles; the girls are No. 7 in LPD3 and the boys are No. 2 – Traverse City Record-Eagle

4. Cross Country: Pinckney swept Southeastern Conference White finales; the girls are No. 12 in LPD2 and the boys are No. 2 – Chelsea Sun Times News

5. Cross Country: The Grand Blanc girls and Saginaw Heritage boys won Saginaw Valley League final championships – Midland Daily News

6. Cross Country: Muskegon Reeths-Puffer swept GMAA championships – Local Sports Journal

7. Boys Soccer: Niles opened its Division 2 District with a 2-1 win over Vicksburg – Niles Daily Star 

8. Cross Country: Hart swept its Hart and Sole Invitational titles; both Pirates teams are ranked No. 1 in LPD3 – Ludington Daily News

9. Cross Country: Alpena swept Northern Lower Peninsula Invitational championships at Ogemaw Heights – Alpena News

10. Volleyball: Division 2 No. 3. Cadillac defeated Grandville, Grant and Sparta at its quad – Cadillac News

4. Girls Soccer: Division 3 No. 15 Boyne City moved into a first-place tie in the Lake Michigan Conference with a 7-0 win over co-leader and No. 4-ranked Elk Rapids – Up North Live

5. Baseball: Lake Orion improved to 15-5 with a 3-2 win over Division 1 No. 14 Rochester Hills Stoney Creek – State Champs Sports Network

6. Girls Soccer: Division 3 No. 13 Algonac moved into first alone in the Blue Water Area Conference with a 1-0 win over former co-leader Armada – Macomb Daily

7. Softball: Macy Irelan had a combined 29 strikeouts and threw a no-hitter in the second game to lead Owosso past Holly in a doubleheader sweep – Owosso Argus-Press

8. Softball: Watervliet earned an important sweep of Division 3 No. 6 Coloma, 10-0 and 14-10 – St. Joseph Herald-Palladium

9. Baseball: Flushing got past Lake Fenton 5-4 with three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning – Mid-Michigan Now
