Daily action is sparse this time of year as the soccer tournament moves through Regionals and volleyball preps for Districts beginning Monday. But Wednesday did see a handful of notable events in those sports plus an honor for one of the state's most successful golf alums.
Boys Soccer
Macomb Dakota moved past Grosse Pointe North 4-1 in a Division 1 Regional Semifinal – Macomb Daily
On the other side of that Division 1 bracket, No. 6 Troy Athens got past Warren DeLaSalle 2-0 – Oakland Press
Volleyball
Class B honorable mention Saginaw Swan Valley swept third-place Alma to clinch the Tri-Valley Conference Central championship – Saginaw News
Rogers City downed Class D No. 5 Onaway in three sets to win the Presque Isle county championship for the second straight year – Alpena News

1. CROSS COUNTRY The Ann Arbor Pioneer girls and Northville boys won Spartan Invitational Elite championships, among eight varsity title winners total – Athletic.net
2. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Division 2 No. 3 Kingsley finished 5-0 to win its invitational, and Jenna Middleton reached 2,000 career kills – Traverse City Record-Eagle
3. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Division 3 No. 10 Morley Stanwood came back from losing the first set to win the next two against Spring Lake and claim its invitational – Big Rapids News
4. CROSS COUNTY Reed City’s girls and boys teams swept Ferris State Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational titles – Cadillac News
5. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Division 1 No. 7 Grand Haven downed Sparta, Stevensville Lakeshore, Grandville and Zeeland East to win its invitational for the third-straight season – Grand Haven Tribune
6. BOYS SOCCER Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker defeated Birch Run, Pinconning and Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central to win its Mark Weidman Invitational for the third-straight season – Huron Daily Tribune
7. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Division 4 No. 10 Onekama won all 12 sets and defeated Mason County Eastern in the final to win its invitational – Manistee News Advocate
8. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Macomb Lutheran North finished 5-0 to win the Fraser Tournament, downing Fraser in the final – Macomb Daily
9. CROSS COUNTRY The Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker boys team was among winners at the Bad Axe Hatchet Invitational – Huron Daily Tribune
