Girls basketball season kicked off across Michigan on Monday, and we’ve highlighted a few of those first games plus some interesting reads as the first full week of winter gets rolling.

Brighton was among teams that started its season Monday, and did so in impressive fashion with a 66-43 win over Linden – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

Canton took a 10-point halftime lead and extended it for a 56-30 win over Detroit Cass Tech – Detroit News

5. GIRLS LACROSSE Rochester scored first, but Stoney Creek scored the next six goals on the way to a 16-6 victory – Oakland Press

6. GIRLS SOCCER Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse scored both goals during the first half of a 2-0 win over Richmond – Macomb Daily
