A mostly quiet Monday across Michigan still had loud newsmakers, as a matchup of 2019 girls basketball champions, a league title clinched, a hockey upset and a 1,000-point scorer led the way. 

1. Girls Basketball: Reigning Division 2 champion Detroit Edison defeated reigning Division 4 champion Adrian Lenawee Christian 67-62 – Adrian Daily Telegram

2. Girls Basketball: Camden-Frontier earned a share of the Southern Central Athletic Association East title with a 56-46 win over Pittsford – Hillsdale Daily News

3. Hockey: Clarkston downed Division 1 No. 5 Macomb Dakota 5-1 in the OAA/MAC Showcase – Macomb Daily

4. Girls Basketball: Emma Anderson went over 1,000 career points in helping Menominee past Kingsford 61-53 – Iron Mountain Daily News 

5. Girls Basketball: Deckerville extended its winning streak to 13 with a 67-47 win over Dryden – Huron Daily Tribune

6. Hockey: Bloomfield Hills earned a 4-3 shootout win over Clinton Township Chippewa Valley also as part of the OAA/MAC Showcase – Macomb Daily

7. Hockey: Birmingham United edged Romeo 4-3 at the OAA/MAC Showcase – Macomb Daily

8. Girls Basketball: Midland Calvary Baptist improved to 14-0 with a 53-28 win over Mayville – Midland Daily News

9. Girls Basketball: Gaylord St. Mary improved to 14-4 with a 46-33 win over Engadine – Traverse City Record-Eagle

10. Boys Basketball: Alanson improved to 12-3 with a 56-54 win over Kinross Maplewood Baptist – MI Sports Now

The basketball season continues to speed to a momentous conclusion, but today make sure to get to the bottom of this report for a couple of stories about athletes working through tragedy that you don’t want to miss.

Big Rapids finished an outright Central State Activities Association Gold title with a 60-35 win over Reed City – Big Rapids News

New Haven advanced in the Macomb Area Conference Blue-Gold Tournament with a win over Warren Woods Tower and thanks to 40 points by Eric Williams, Jr. – Macomb Daily

Walled Lake Western edged rival Walled Lake Northern 63-62 to move on in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association Tournament – Oakland Press

Detroit U-D Jesuit just got past Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 51-49 to advance to the Detroit Catholic League A-B Final – Detroit News

Dollar Bay’s Devin Schmitz needed four points to reach 1,000 for his career, but scored 43 in a 66-57 win over Hancock – Houghton Daily Mining Gazette
