Basketball quickly has raced into full swing across the state, with a pair of standouts celebrating milestone scoring achievements Tuesday and girls basketball performances dominating the top of our top 10 list of daily coverage from across Michigan.

1. Girls Basketball: Byron not only picked up an impressive 48-40 win over annual power St. Ignace, but Sarah Marvin went over 1,000 career points in the victory – Owosso Argus-Press

2. Girls Basketball: Detroit Edison opened with a 65-49 win over Bloomfield Hills Marian – Detroit News

3. Girls Basketball: Reagan Thorr went over 1,000 career points in Frankfort’s 51-29 win over Onekama – Traverse City Record-Eagle

4. Girls Basketball: Shea Tripp did a lot of everything, tallying a quadruple-double in Michigan Center’s big win over Manchester – Jackson Citizen Patriot

5. Boys Basketball: Muskegon Oakridge handed Ravenna its first regular-season loss since February 2019, 62-47 – Local Sports Journal

6. Girls Basketball: Midland won a matchup of Saginaw Valley League powers 38-28 over Heritage – Saginaw News

1. GIRLS GOLF Reigning champion St. Joseph won the first round of the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference Tournament, shooting a 350 to finish two strokes better than Battle Creek Lakeview – St. Joseph Herald-Palladium

2. BOYS TENNIS Traverse City St. Francis finished first and Ludington second at the Gladiators’ invitational – Ludington Daily News

3. VOLLEYBALL Brethren downed Mason County Central to win the Bear Lake Invitational – Manistee News Advocate

4. CROSS COUNTRY The Tecumseh girls and Adrian boys won championships at the Bert Cebulski Invitational – Coldwater Daily Reporter

5. BOYS SOCCER Brighton moved to 3-0 with a comeback 3-2 win over Salem – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

6. VOLLEYBALL Menominee swept Gladstone, including edging the Braves by two points in the second set – Escanaba Daily News

7. GIRLS GOLF Sturgis shot a 218 to edge Vicksburg by 11 strokes – Sturgis Journal
