Three more sports finished their seasons with MHSAA Finals over the weekend while boys basketball got through its first round – and just this afternoon, the newest Miss Basketball was crowned.

Each weekday during the school year, we’ll gather and post media links covering the most significant and intriguing high school events from all over the state. 

Girls Basketball

Muskegon Mona Shores’ Jordan Walker, a member of the MHSAA Student Advisory Council, was named Miss Basketball today – Detroit Free Press

Boys Basketball

Mario Whitley had 36 points and 20 rebounds as Frankenmuth beat Bridgeport 58-49 in a Class B District Final and rematch of Tri-Valley Conference East co-champions – Saginaw News

Flushing won its first District title since 1982, downing St. Johns 66-56 in Class A – Flint Journal

Cedarville downed Pickford 61-39 in a Class D Final after finishing second to Pickford in league play – Sault Ste. Marie Evening News

Gymnastics

Rockford won a third straight team championship Friday, while Brighton’s Courtney Casper and North Farmington’s Elisa Bills followed up with individual titles Saturday – Second Half

Hockey

The southeastern Lower Peninsula dominated this season’s Finals as Brighton, Birmingham Brother Rice and Warren DeLaSalle won championships Saturday – Second Half

Boys Swimming & Diving

Repeat champions reigned at the Lower Peninsula Finals, with Brother Rice and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood winning their fourth straight titles and Dexter winning its second consecutive – Second Half

1. GIRLS SOCCER Unranked Harbor Springs upset Division 4 No. 1 North Muskegon 2-1 – Petoskey News-Review

2. GIRLS TENNIS Holland West Ottawa – No. 4 in Lower Peninsula Division 1 – swept doubles and split singles flights in defeating LPD2 No. 10 Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central 6-2 – Holland Sentinel

3. GIRLS SOCCER Division 1 No. 14 New Baltimore Anchor Bay moved to 3-0 with a third shutout, downing No. 2 Troy Athens 2-0 – Oakland Press

4. GIRLS SOCCER Division 3 No. 10 Grosse Ile defeated Division 2 No. 7 Trenton 1-0 – Southgate News-Herald

5. TRACK & FIELD The Traverse City West boys and Rockford girls won Muskegon Reeths-Puffer Rocket Invitational Green championships, while the Manistee girls and Saugatuck boys were champions of the White division – Traverse City Record-Eagle

6. GIRLS SOCCER Spring Lake remained undefeated with a 2-0 win over North Muskegon – FOX 17

7. BOYS LACROSSE Detroit Country Day led 7-5 at halftime and pulled away to defeat Dow/Midland 20-10 – Midland Daily News

8. BASEBALL Addison defeated Morenci in the final to win its Red Bat Classic – Adrian Daily Telegram

9. BOYS GOLF Ann Arbor Greenhills was first and Williamston second at the Larry Judson Invitational – Owosso Argus-Press

10. BOYS GOLF Tecumseh won the Adrian Madison Ryder Cup – Adrian Daily Telegram
