Boys basketball teams across the state moved into Regionals on Monday, while the state’s leading girls basketball scorer this season finished her career with Michigan’s most prestigious individual award.

Boys Basketball

Macomb Dakota scored with six seconds left in double overtime to get past Clarkston 68-66 in Class A – Macomb Dakota

Lansing Everett trailed by 12 heading into the fourth quarter against Kalamazoo Central, but scored 30 points in the final period to win in Class A, 56-49 – Kalamazoo Gazette

Also in Class A, Muskegon won a matchup of arguably the two best teams from the state’s west side, getting past Grand Rapids Christian 64-53 – Muskegon Chronicle

Williamston eliminated reigning Class B champion Wyoming Godwin Heights, 57-55 in overtime – Lansing State Journal

Ithaca set a single-season record with its 22nd win in a 79-60 Class C victory over Millington – Mount Pleasant Morning Sun

Girls Basketball

Benton Harbor’s Kysre Gondrezick made headlines all season with incredible scoring totals, and capped her high school career by winning the Miss Basketball Award – Detroit Free Press

Snow days put most of Monday’s scheduled action on ice, but of course there still are highlights to share – plus an incredible video about why football remains such a great and life lesson-teaching game.

Boys Basketball

Grass Lake and Whitmore Lake combined to score 195 points, with a half-court shot and 11-point fourth-quarter comeback all part of the story setting up the Warriors’ 99-96 win – Jackson Citizen-Patriot

Brimley made five first-quarter 3-pointers, but couldn’t hold on to the early momentum as Onaway came back for a 66-59 win – Sault Ste. Marie Evening News

Centreville won the extra period by a point to down Athens 41-40 as the teams played into overtime for the third straight season – Sturgis Journal

Max Mones scored a hat trick to lead Portage Central past rival Portage Northern, 6-4 – Kalamazoo Gazette

Wrestling

From Saturday, Division 2 No. 7 Gaylord downed Division 3 No. 2 Lake Fenton and No. 9 Corunna, Midland Dow, Traverse City Central and Clinton Township Chippewa Valley in winning the Linden Invitational – Petoskey News Review
