Oakland County again features some of the best boys lacrosse and girls soccer in the state, and top teams this spring took a step forward in both sports Tuesday afternoon.
Each weekday during the school year, we’ll gather and post media links covering the most significant and intriguing high school events from all over the state.
Boys Lacrosse
In a matchup of top programs statewide, Division 1 No. 7 Lake Orion downed No. 6 Clarkston 8-5 to take a lead in the Oakland Activities Association Red race – Oakland Press
Girls Soccer
Division 1 No. 4 Brighton extended its winning streak to seven over rival Hartland with a 2-0 victory – Livingston Daily Press & Argus
Division 2 top-ranked Bloomfield Hills Marian moved to 7-0 with a 6-3 defeat of rival Farmington Hills Mercy in the Detroit Catholic League – Oakland Press
Softball
Division 1 No. 6 Midland got past Bay City Western in a doubleheader, 12-2 in the first game but only 5-3 in extra innings in the second – Bay City Times
Calumet hit six home runs in a sweep of nearby Hancock in the first Copper Softball Trophy game – Houghton Daily Mining Gazette
Track & Field
The Bad Axe boys nudged past Cass City 105-102, to win the Unionville-Sebewaing Invitational, while Reese pulled away in the girls competition – Huron Daily Tribune

1. BOYS TENNIS Holland Christian clinched its first Finals championship in this sport since 1965 – MHSAA.com
2. VOLLEYBALL Division 4 honorable mention Onaway clinched the Ski Valley Conference championship with a sweep of East Jordan – Cheboygan Daily Tribune
3. VOLLEYBALL Division 2 honorable mention Birch Run is the champion of the Mid-Michigan Activities Conference after a sweep of Mt. Morris – WJRT
4. VOLLEYBALL Division 3 honorable mention Hanover-Horton finished a perfect run through the Cascades Conference with a sweep of Brooklyn Columbia Central – Jackson Citizen Patriot
5. BOYS SOCCER No. 5 Rochester Adams advanced in its Division 1 Regional with a 2-1 overtime win over No. 3 Troy – Oakland Press
6. BOYS SOCCER No. 15 Fennville earned its first Regional Final berth with a shootout win over Wyoming Godwin Heights in Division 3 – Holland Sentinel
7. BOYS SOCCER No. 4 Lansing Christian advanced in Division 4 with a 2-1 win over No. 5 Clarkston Everest Collegiate – Lansing State Journal
8. BOYS SOCCER No. 3 Royal Oak Shrine Catholic downed No. 10 Jackson Christian 1-0 in Division 4 – Oakland Press
9. BOYS SOCCER No. 7 Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern handed No. 8 Bay City John Glenn its first and only loss of the season, 3-1 in Division 2 – Bay City Times
10. BOYS SOCCER Top-ranked Portage Central advanced in Division 1 with a 3-0 win over No. 7 Traverse City West – Kalamazoo Gazette
