Brighton rode the pitching and hitting of Cameron Tullar to a sweep of 2015 Division 1 champ Hartland, 6-0, 3-2 – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

Ludington and Division 3 No. 10 Whitehall tied 4-4 in Coastal Conference play – Ludington Daily News

The six-time reigning Upper Peninsula Division 1 champion Marquette girls got past rival and 2016 Finals runner-up Escanaba 67-65 by winning the day’s final race – Escanaba Daily Press
Breckenridge’s boys won the Mid-State Activities Conference jamboree, their first league jamboree win since 1995 – Mount Pleasant Morning Sun
Farwell’s Lillian Albaugh bested her previous best shot put by more than 14 inches to break a school record set in 1993 – and she got within 28 inches of breaking the discus record set that same year – Mount Pleasant Morning Sun

Thursday’s Volleyball Semifinals set up two championship-deciding rematches, while athletes across the Lower Peninsula readied for the Swimming and Diving Finals beginning today.

The Holland Sentinel provides plenty of reasons why even the casual fan should check out this weekend’s Lower Peninsula Division 1 Final at the Holland Aquatic Center – Holland Sentinel
Port Huron Northern diver Hallie Roman finished first in every competition during the regular season and became her school’s first MHSAA finalist in the sport since 2010 – Port Huron Times-Herald
Volleyball
Romeo will play for a second straight Class A title after downing Livonia Churchill in five sets in Class A – Macomb Daily
Top-ranked Novi earned an MHSAA Final rematch with Romeo by sweeping No. 3-ranked Grand Rapids Christian – Oakland Press
Battle Creek St. Philip will play for its 10th straight MHSAA championship after edging top-ranked Plymouth Christian in the first match of the day – Battle Creek Enquirer
Leland also earned an MHSAA Finals rematch in Class D with a win over Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart – Traverse City Record-Eagle
