Teams across Michigan continued driving toward the holiday weekend in impressive fashion Wednesday, led by major performances on the golf and cross country courses and tennis court.
1. Girls Golf: Troy, No. 9 in Lower Peninsula Division 1, shot a 322 to win the Oakland County Division 2 Tournament championship by 16 strokes ahead of runner-up LPD3 No. 5 Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood – Oakland Press
2. Girls Tennis: Reigning Upper Peninsula Division 1 runner-up Marquette handed a first loss of the season to reigning UPD2 champion Ishpeming Westwood – Marquette Mining Journal
3. Cross Country: Hartland swept the Corunna Earlybird Invitational titles, both teams edging runner-up St. Johns by just a few points – Livingston Daily Press & Argus
4. Cross Country: Charlevoix topped a strong boys field to win the East Jordan Invitational – Petoskey News-Review
5. Cross Country: Pewamo-Westphalia’s girls edged Ithaca’s by two points to win the Yellowjackets’ home invitational – Mount Pleasant Morning Sun
6. Volleyball: Onsted moved to 7-0 with wins over Napoleon, Division 3 honorable mention Manchester and host Adrian Madison at a quad – Adrian Daily Telegram
7. Volleyball: Division 3 No. 5 Muskegon Western Michigan Christian moved to 11-2 with wins over Zeeland East, Allendale and Montague – Local Sports Journal
8. Cross Country: Pewamo-Westphalia’s boys won the six-team Ithaca Invitational ahead of a host of Division 4 state contenders – Mount Pleasant Morning Sun
9. Boys Tennis: Holland won Nos. 1 and 2 singles, but West Ottawa won the other six flights to earn a 6-2 team victory – Holland Sentinel
10. Volleyball: Freeland downed Gladwin, Bay City Western and Beaverton to move to 7-1 – Midland Daily News

Tuesday saw a mix of personal milestones with record book implications and massive hoops matchups that continued to shift league standings with only a few weeks remaining in this regular season.
1. Boys Basketball: Wyoming’s Menalito McGee and Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern’s Ethan Erickson earned spots in the MHSAA record book for single-game 3-pointers in their teams’ Tuesday victories – Grand Rapids Press
2. Boys Basketball: Erie Mason’s Joe Liedel scored 37 points in a 63-38 win over Brooklyn Columbia Central to set the Monroe County Region career scoring record at 1,951 – Monroe News
3. Girls Basketball: Saginaw Heritage shook up the Saginaw Valley League standings with a 56-39 win over formerly first-place Midland – Midland Daily News
4. Boys Swimming & Diving: Collin Che set Midland Dow school and pool records in the 100-yard butterfly in his team’s 138-42 win over Midland; Dow is ranked No. 3 in Lower Peninsula Division 2 – Midland Daily News
5. Boys Basketball: Detroit Douglass advanced to the Detroit Public School League Tournament final with a 76-46 win over Detroit Martin Luther King – Detroit News
6. Girls Basketball: Williamston earned a major win on a buzzer beater, 37-35 over DeWitt – Lansing State Journal
7. Girls Basketball: Trenton moved into first place alone in the Downriver League with a 44-37 overtime win over Lincoln Park – Southgate News-Herald
8. Boys Basketball: Hopkins moved into first place alone in the Ottawa-Kent Conference Silver with a 66-60 win over Grandville Calvin Christian – FOX 17

10. Boys Basketball: A last-second put-back gave Posen a 47-46 win over previously one-loss Hale – Alpena News
