The Spring Lake girls golf, Port Huron Northern boys tennis and Leland volleyball teams were among the state-ranked who stood up to local challenges Monday.

Girls Golf

Division 3 No. 4 Spring Lake continued to extend a big lead in the Ottawa-Kent Conference Blue with a 34-stroke win at Monday’s league jamboree – Grand Haven Tribune

Boys Tennis

Port Huron Northern, ranked No. 10 in Division 1, got past Division 3 No. 7 St. Clair 6-2 in a matchup of top programs from the eastern shore – Port Huron Times Herald

Volleyball

Class D No. 3 Leland, also the reigning champion in that class, remains a favorite and showed it with wins over Traverse City Central and Class C No. 4 Traverse City St. Francis – Traverse City Record-Eagle

1. GIRLS BASKETBALL Division 1 No. 13 Hartland came back in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 18 Howell 63-48 in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association championship game – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

2. HOCKEY No. 9 Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett advanced in Division 3 with a 5-3 Regional Semifinal win over Detroit Country Day – Observer & Eccentric

3. HOCKEY Kingsford advanced in its Division 2 Regional with a 4-3 four-overtime win over Escanaba – Iron Mountain Daily News

4. HOCKEY No. 2 Warren De La Salle Collegiate will face Liggett in that Division 3 Regional Final after a 3-2 overtime win over Detroit U-D Jesuit – Macomb Daily

5. GIRLS BASKETBALL Taylor Petoskey went over 1,000 career points during Charlevoix’s 37-25 loss to Manton – Petoskey News-Review

6. HOCKEY No. 10 Lake Orion will play in a Division 1 Regional Final after a 4-2 win over Rochester United – Oakland Press

7. HOCKEY Alpena advanced to a Division 3 Regional Final with a 7-1 win over Cheboygan – Alpena News

8. HOCKEY Top-ranked Flint Powers Catholic also advanced in Division 3 with a 5-2 win over Big Rapids – Big Rapids Pioneer

9. GIRLS BASKETBALL Division 3 No. 16 Sanford Meridian defeated Clare 51-39 to finish its first undefeated run through the Jack Pine Conference – Midland Daily News

10. GIRLS BASKETBALL Division 3 No. 9 Maple City Glen Lake capped its second-straight perfect regular season with a big win over Benzie Central – Traverse City Record-Eagle
