The Spring Lake girls golf, Port Huron Northern boys tennis and Leland volleyball teams were among the state-ranked who stood up to local challenges Monday.

Girls Golf

Division 3 No. 4 Spring Lake continued to extend a big lead in the Ottawa-Kent Conference Blue with a 34-stroke win at Monday’s league jamboree – Grand Haven Tribune

Boys Tennis

Port Huron Northern, ranked No. 10 in Division 1, got past Division 3 No. 7 St. Clair 6-2 in a matchup of top programs from the eastern shore – Port Huron Times Herald

Volleyball

Class D No. 3 Leland, also the reigning champion in that class, remains a favorite and showed it with wins over Traverse City Central and Class C No. 4 Traverse City St. Francis – Traverse City Record-Eagle

1. VOLLEYBALL Watervliet held on to win the fifth set 15-13 and defeat No. 4 Bronson in a Division 4 Regional Semifinal – St. Joseph Herald-Palladium

2. VOLLEYBALL Top-ranked Bloomfield Hills Marian advanced to a Division 1 Regional Final with a four-set win over No. 9 Novi – Observer & Eccentric

3. VOLLEYBALL No. 5 North Branch swept No. 10 Essexville Garber to move on in Division 2 – WJRT

4. VOLLEYBALL Elk Rapids swept No. 10 Charlevoix in a Division 3 Regional Semifinal – Petoskey News-Review

5. VOLLEYBALL Honorable mention Lake Orion twice came back from a set down to defeat White Lake Lakeland in five – Oakland Press

6. VOLLEYBALL Top-ranked Muskegon Western Michigan Christian advanced in Division 3 with a 3-1 win over honorable mention Morley Stanwood – Grand Haven Tribune

7. VOLLEYBALL Portage Northern won a matchup of Division 1 honorable mentions, 3-2 over Byron Center – FOX 17

8. VOLLEYBALL Three Rivers earned a chance to win a first Regional title with a five-set win over Grand Rapids South Christian in Division 2 – Three Rivers Commercial News

9. VOLLEYBALL Brighton advanced to a Regional Final for the first time since 2001 with a sweep of Grand Ledge in Division 1 – Livingston Daily Press & Argus

10. VOLLEYBALL Eben Junction Superior Central advanced in Division 4 with a sweep of Crystal Falls Forest Park – Escanaba Daily Press
