Labor Day weekend meant Thursday again belonged to varsity football in most communities. We’ll cover those results in our weekly “Drive for Detroit” – but please read on to check out a few reports we’ve been saving, including a Michigan Olympian discussing her high school experience.

2. CROSS COUNTRY Monroe Jefferson swept the team and individual championships at Milan’s Puddle Jumper Invitational – Monroe News
3. GIRLS GOLF Montague shot a 367 to edge Traverse City West by a stroke at the latter’s invitational at Interlochen – Traverse City Record-Eagle
