Top-ranked teams in golf, swimming & diving and volleyball faced off all over the Lower Peninsula on Thursday, providing some telling finishes as we near the end of the short holiday week.
Each weekday during the school year, we’ll gather and post media links covering the most significant and intriguing high school events from all over the state.
Girls Golf
Division 1 top-ranked Rochester shot 309 to finish one stroke ahead of No. 9 Brighton and win the Holt Invitational – Livingston Daily
Traverse City West’s Anika Dy continued her special season with a course record-tying 67 to lead the No. 2 Titans to another victory at the Petoskey Invitational at Bayview Country Club – Traverse City Record-Eagle
Girls Swimming & Diving
Division 1 No. 6 Northville just got past Division 2 No. 4 Grosse Pointe South by capturing all three relays – Observer & Eccentic
Volleyball
Class A No. 8 Clarkston moved to 15-1 with a sweep of No. 9 Macomb Dakota, Birmingham Seaholm and Bloomfield Hills Marian – Oakland Press
St. Clair Shores Lakeview downed South Lake and then edged Lake Shore to win the “War on the Shores” city championship – Macomb Daily

1. BOYS TENNIS Holland Christian clinched its first Finals championship in this sport since 1965 – MHSAA.com
2. VOLLEYBALL Division 4 honorable mention Onaway clinched the Ski Valley Conference championship with a sweep of East Jordan – Cheboygan Daily Tribune
3. VOLLEYBALL Division 2 honorable mention Birch Run is the champion of the Mid-Michigan Activities Conference after a sweep of Mt. Morris – WJRT
4. VOLLEYBALL Division 3 honorable mention Hanover-Horton finished a perfect run through the Cascades Conference with a sweep of Brooklyn Columbia Central – Jackson Citizen Patriot
5. BOYS SOCCER No. 5 Rochester Adams advanced in its Division 1 Regional with a 2-1 overtime win over No. 3 Troy – Oakland Press
6. BOYS SOCCER No. 15 Fennville earned its first Regional Final berth with a shootout win over Wyoming Godwin Heights in Division 3 – Holland Sentinel
7. BOYS SOCCER No. 4 Lansing Christian advanced in Division 4 with a 2-1 win over No. 5 Clarkston Everest Collegiate – Lansing State Journal
8. BOYS SOCCER No. 3 Royal Oak Shrine Catholic downed No. 10 Jackson Christian 1-0 in Division 4 – Oakland Press
9. BOYS SOCCER No. 7 Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern handed No. 8 Bay City John Glenn its first and only loss of the season, 3-1 in Division 2 – Bay City Times
10. BOYS SOCCER Top-ranked Portage Central advanced in Division 1 with a 3-0 win over No. 7 Traverse City West – Kalamazoo Gazette
