Performance of the Week: Detroit Country Day's Charlotte Cook

June 12, 2026

Sophomore ♦ Lacrosse

Cook has shown already to be more than capable of owning the biggest moments in high school lacrosse, scoring the game-winning goals for Country Day in the last two Division 2 Finals. On June 5, Cook found the net for the clinching score with 29 seconds to play in the Yellowjackets' 13-12 victory over East Grand Rapids. She finished the game with six goals total on 15 shots.

The all-state midfielder eclipsed 80 goals this season and 130 over her first two, and Country Day finished this spring 15-5 to move to a combined 32-8 during her two seasons in the program. Cook also plays field hockey and helped the Yellowjackets to a 15-1-1 record in the fall during the inaugural season of field hockey as an MHSAA-sponsored sport.

Performance of the Week: Utica Eisenhower's Morgan Emerick

June 4, 2026

Morgan Emerick headshotMorgan Emerick ♦ Utica Eisenhower
Sophomore ♦ Tennis

The Eagles' No. 2 singles player won her second-straight Finals championship at that flight, claiming all four of her matches Saturday at Midland Tennis Center in straight sets while giving up a combined 10 points on the day. She finished this season 37-0, running her two-year high school record to 74-1 – and she's won 71 straight matches, good for the fifth-longest streak in the MHSAA record book.

Emerick also was a gymnast growing up, but picked up tennis from her father and has emerged into a force. Her 37 wins this season rank sixth-most for a singles player in MHSAA history, and doubling her 74 from her first two seasons would put her among the top three in career victories when she graduates in two years. Only three of her victories this season went to third sets, and three of her wins came at No. 1 singles.
