Performance of the Week: Farmington Hills Mercy's Kaitlyn Pallozzi
April 14, 2022
Kaitlyn Pallozzi ♦ Farmington Hills Mercy
Softball ♦ Freshman
It would be nearly impossible to improve on the first week of high school softball that Pallozzi enjoyed last week. She made her varsity debut in the circle April 5 with no-hitter against Dearborn Divine Child – striking out 14 and allowing one walk in the 9-0 victory – and then struck out all 21 batters three days later in a 1-0 perfect-game win over Ann Arbor Greenhills. Pallozzi was the 12th in state high school history to strike out at least 21 hitters in a seven-inning game, and she became the third to strike out at least 21 consecutive hitters.
An accomplished travel player heading into high school, she last summer helped her team to a USA Elite national championship in Iowa. The 6-foot Pallozzi also played on Mercy’s Division 1 top-five ranked varsity volleyball team in the fall. She has three years of high school to go after this spring, of course, but Pallozzi is setting her sights as well on studying to become a pediatric nurse – inspired by the care she received when her appendix was removed when she was 10.

Performance of the Week: Ravenna's Emily Postema
April 24, 2026
Emily Postema ♦ Ravenna
Senior ♦ Softball
Coming off a Friday night sweep of Division 2 No. 5 Wayland, Ravenna took on three of the most highly-regarded Division 1 teams in the state Saturday at the Grand Haven Invitational – and downed them all to win the tournament, with major contributions from Postema, a returning all-state honorable mention catcher and one of two seniors helping pace the Bulldogs as they pursue a repeat trip to Finals weekend.
Postema was 2-for-2 during a 10-0 win over Division 1 honorable mention Traverse City Central, drove in the game-winning run in a 4-3 victory over honorable mention Midland Dow and also was 2-for-2 with a double in an 11-0 win over the No. 7 Buccaneers. Ravenna is 15-0 and ranked No. 2 in this week’s coaches poll coming off last season’s trip to the Division 3 Semifinals. Postema also was the starting catcher when Ravenna reached the Semifinals her freshman season, and she was a four-year varsity basketball player as well and earned all-league and all-area recognition this winter. She’ll continue her academic and softball careers at Cornerstone University, where she’s planning to study exercise science with a specialty in cardiac rehabilitation.
