A handful of no-hitters and the end of a notable streak made the diamond the place to be Monday, while golf and track & field saw significant invitational action – and our School Broadcast Program received some great attention as well.

Baseball
Midland dealt Division 1 No. 7 Bay City Western its first doubleheader sweep in more than five seasons and 200 games with 1-0 and 3-2 wins – Bay City Times
Detroit Western International pitcher Miguel Ambriz threw a no-hitter as his team downed Detroit Catholic Central 4-1 – Detroit News
Division 3 No. 13 Homer swept Vandercook Lake at University of Michigan, taking the first game 4-2 thanks in part to a complete game pitching victory by freshman T.J. Vanderkuyl – Jackson Citizen-Patriot
Boys Golf
Gladstone edged Escanaba by three strokes to win its home invitational – Escanaba Daily Press
Division 1 No. 9 Utica Ford finished 13 strokes better than Macomb Dakota to win the Evans-Gill Invitational – Macomb Daily
Boys Lacrosse
From Sunday, Division 1 No. 1 Birmingham Brother Rice ended the 50-game winning streak, longest nationally, for New York champion Victor with a 10-9 win – Rochester (NY) Democrat & Chronicle
Girls Soccer
Alma’s Tia Everdeen scored three goals in the first half as her team downed Ithaca 4-0 – Mount Pleasant Morning Sun
Softball
Division 1 No. 9 Howell freshman Molly Carney threw a one-hit shutout to down honorable mention Waterford Kettering and returning all-state pitcher Madison French – Livingston Daily Press & Argus
Kingsley swept Harrison on a pair of no-hitters by McKenna Musser – Traverse City Record-Eagle
Track & Field
The Norway boys won the Bobcat Invitational in Florence, Wis., while Felch North Dickinson finished second in both the boys and girls competitions – Iron Mountain Daily News

A matchup of ranked tennis powers highlighted a weekend that saw some of the best in multiple sports face off in a variety of multi-team events across the state.
1. Boys Tennis: Chelsea – ranked No. 5 in Lower Peninsula Division 3 – edged No. 10 Allegan by five points to win the latter’s invitational – Chelsea Sun Times News
2. Cross Country: Hart, Traverse City Central and White Cloud swept races at the Ludington Invitational; both Hart teams and the Traverse City Central girls are ranked No. 1 in their respective divisions (3 and 1), and the Central boys are No. 8 – Athletic.net/Ludington Daily News/Traverse City Record-Eagle
3. Girls Swimming & Diving: Holland West Ottawa defeated rival Holland 115-66; both are honorable mentions in their respective divisions (1 and 2) – Holland Sentinel
4. Boys Soccer: Battle Creek Lakeview won the All-City title with a shootout win over Harper Creek – Battle Creek Enquirer
5. Volleyball: Cheboygan went 2-1 at the Charlevoix quad, including handing the first loss of this season to the host Red Rayders – Cheboygan Daily Tribune
6. Cross Country: LPD1 No. 6 Romeo and a standout Macomb Dakota freshman set the pace for the Macomb Area Conference Red girls jamboree – Macomb Daily
7. Boys Soccer: Traverse City Christian shut out Tawas, Cheboygan and Alpena by a combined 14-0 score to win Alpena’s Huron Shores Tournament – Traverse City Record-Eagle
8. Cross Country: Bay City John Glenn’s boys edged Gladwin’s in a tie-breaker to win the Sanford Meridian Invitational – Bay City Times
9. Volleyball: Cadillac won five straight matches after falling to Lake Odessa Lakewood to open its super quad – Cadillac News
10. Volleyball: Montague improved to 12-1 this fall with three more wins – Local Sports Journal
