From our Battle of the Fans finalists ...

March 29, 2012

This winter's inaugural "Battle of the Fans" was about recognizing the top student cheering section in the state of Michigan.

But it also provided valuable lessons about sportsmanship and made every gym a classroom where they could be taught and learned.

The video below includes clips from all five finalists' videos shot by MHSAA staff and used in the judging for the contest. It played on the Breslin Center scoreboard before each of the Semifinals and championship games of the Girls and Boys Basketball Finals over the last two weekends.

If you were there, you no doubt caught at least a glimpse. If not, check it out below.

Performance of the Week: St. Clair Shores Lake Shore's Devin Patrick

March 6, 2026

Devin Patrick headshotDevin Patrick ♦ St. Clair Shores Lake Shore
Senior ♦ Bowling

Patrick completed a dream run through the MHSAA Division 2 Singles Bowling Tournament with an unforgettable finish Saturday at Waterford’s Century Bowl. Primarily a junior varsity bowler as a junior just a year ago, Patrick navigated the Finals match play bracket to finish as his school’s first champion in the sport.

After advancing second from his Regional two weeks ago, but then just making the match play with a 14th-place tie in Finals qualifying, Patrick marched all the way to the championship match where he defeated New Boston Huron’s top-seeded Hunter Wyszynski 462-455 with games of 252 and 210. Three of Patrick’s four match play wins were decided by 10 pins or fewer, but for the day he averaged 205 pins over 14 games.
